New home design

The original block had a slope of gradient 1:10 which was leveled and retained to suit the 890m2 single level house, complete with courtyard area and minimum 3 living zones to accommodate a family of 5. 

Clients desire was to build a Mediterranean influenced open plan home, but with no existing sketches and minimal brief, this provided an opportunity to take full creative liberty and propose the design of their dreams.

A stylish Mediterranean inspired design includes courtyard, 5 bedrooms, office, games, library, kids retreat, dining to seat 32, and 2 bedroom unit with private garage and living/ meals.

There was a conscious effort to maximize and link the living and external entertaining areas by increasing ceiling height and opening up views to the large backyard with tall french doors. Furthermore, the natural materials such as tumbled travertine and stack stone introduced externally are repeated internally to give a sense of rustic and authenticity throughout the home, making this plan an inviting dwelling for the subtropical climate of Queensland.
